Kesik Minare

The Kesik (broken) minaret is one of the many minarets in the Old Town and one of the most interesting sights of Antalya. It is a part of the Cami-i Kebir Korkut (Mosque), built in 1467 by Sultan Korkut. Originally there was a Roman temple. The rich history of several eras and dynasties united at this place. Throughout the centuries it was destroyed several times and converted in Byzantine church then in the mosque. In case of fire in the 19th century the mosque was badly damaged and part of the minaret broke off. Kesik Minaret is historically and archaeologically very interesting and attracts with its impressive sight visitors from all over the world. In the picturesque streets of this part of the old town there are many cafes, bars and restaurants and old houses in the Ottoman style.
